Wayfinding system: find the right way on and in the building

On the way into the office, hospital, shopping centre, car park
As different as the buildings are, the requirements for the design of the information signs across the whole wayfinding system are just as different. While for a small office a simple advertising sign or an outdoor LED sign is often enough, large industrial companies and building complexes, which are often right in the middle of the city, have to be fitted with signs in a much more complex way.

When visitors are on their way to the hospital, museum, car park, shopping centre, the station, or also to school or kindergarten, they often need several wayfinding systems to find their bearings: it starts with the sign systems for the access routes and ends with the various directions to the entrances.

Wayfinding system, printed or digital
Alongside a printed guidance system, you can often also provide the information signs digitally by means of digital signage. Alongside overview plans on steles, the door signs of a room-signage scheme are also very well suited to really up-to-date digital information. In property branding, too, the tenant overview at the building entrance can be handled more easily in digital form – the more laborious swapping of the company signs is no longer needed. And wouldn’t the classic noticeboard look much clearer digitally? Wall lettering also looks thoroughly modern in digital form. You see, there are many ways digital signage can help you.

Wayfinding with directional signs and information signs, outdoors and indoors
Whether it is a small information sign outside or the full signage for a building, outdoors as well as indoors – make it easy for your customers to find you.

For large buildings, besides the signage outside on the grounds, further options are often sought for how the wayfinding inside could continue, in the form of Window lettering or floor stickers and wall films. Here too we have plenty of ideas up our sleeve for how the directional signs and information signs could look as if they lead the way – in the truest sense of the word. Sometimes, for example, even a simple light strip with LED lighting helps to draw attention to a path.

We also like to fit events with signs, by the way, whether they take place once or on a regular cycle.

Effective materials, well-thought-out design
So that your customers can find the building, we use all kinds of different materials.

Depending on the use, we offer you the products in Dibond®, Plexiglas®, stainless steel, toughened safety glass, aluminium, Forex®, wood, polystyrene, acrylic, polycarbonate or also corrugated plastic sheet.

Large printed signs, for example, are already visible from far away. But we also have many other options for producing signs in reserve. For example when it comes to the shape. Why not produce a sign in the shape of an arrow or a logo for once? Our graphic designers are glad to help you develop a suitable design if you need it. The possibilities are big.

How can we produce so many different products around wayfinding systems? Quite simply: with our high-tech machines.

All wayfinding systems and advertising signs are produced here on site at our place in Krefeld.

For this we put the following High-tech machines to use: With our flatbed printer we print the signs directly up to a thickness of 50 mm. We do the solvent printing for the banners and films with the OKI and the Seiko. The Summa plotter cuts the films to contour. And with the Esko-Kongsberg C64 we cut, plotter-cut and mill.

Yes, we also offer tactile lettering.

We can help with that. For people with dementia, individual memory cues come first, and we turn them into graphics. We work with large motifs that serve as a striking memory cue. One example is a large forest motif on the wall.

Yes, we have a specialist department that knows the different wayfinding systems. Working with light strips on furniture, or lighting on stair nosings, is just as doable as lighting on walls or pictures. We match the concept to the respective needs and work out a sensible mix of a lighting system and a sign system.

An on-site visit is even absolutely necessary here, so we can get a picture. We have to get a feel for the space, and for how visitors have to cope with finding their way in everyday life.

We're very happy to offer traffic guidance systems for road traffic too.

Flat materials such as Plexiglas® or Dibond® are suitable for the wall.

We're very happy to do that too, just give us a call.

If it's technically possible, we can always do LED. We work a lot with LED in other areas of signage – for example with illuminated letters or flat illuminated panels – and we know our way around that very well.

There are films for short-term use that are very easy to remove again. Or adhesion films, which are films that do not bond permanently with the surface.

Sure, we are happy to come. Clarity for the visitor always comes first. We have often found that signs can be left out too.

Here we integrate, directly on the glass surface, film lettering that fits the room concept. With large glass surfaces there are regulations anyway that have to be met: glass surfaces larger than 1 m² must always be marked. Uniform lettering is therefore not only sensible here, but also necessary. Our graphic designers have many different design ideas for how the vinyl film application fits the room concept and also looks the part graphically.

We cannot recommend films to you here, because forklifts destroy any floor film. Better use floor paint for your wayfinding. You can order the stencils for it from us.
