Advertising pylons and advertising steles: both make an impact

If you want to draw attention to your company right from the street, advertising pylons and advertising steles are a good choice. Both are mounted firmly on the ground and are seen from both sides. Pylons are usually more striking than steles, because they are closed over a large area and are usually lit.

The advantages at a glance:

  • open and closed

  • lit and unlit

  • high stability

  • weatherproof

  • Visibility from both sides

Weatherproof advertising impact outside
Whether in town by the road, at the sports ground or maybe even on the motorway – you see these advertising boards everywhere, drawing attention to the companies: sometimes as an illuminated advertising board for a single company and sometimes unlit, with many different company names and notices.

Lit with LED or unlit
We distinguish pylons and steles like this: with us, an advertising stele is usually unlit and an advertising pylon is lit.

Since LEDs match the current state of the art, we use these light sources for the pylons. Which LED lighting is used for your product always depends on the size and depth of the particular freestanding pylon. You can also choose, for example, whether you want the advertising panels indirectly backlit.

Stele rather open, pylon closed
Besides the lighting, the steles and pylons also differ in how they are built. We distinguish between open and closed.

A stele is open, because it is usually two metal tubes fitted on the left and on the right. In the middle there is a sign, or possibly several signs. You can also call a stele a standing sign. A standing sign or a stele is wider than it is tall.

A pylon, unlike a stele, is closed. You can picture a closed box that is angular or oval and, if needed, curved convex. This form of outdoor advertising is taller than it is wide.

Whichever outdoor advertising you choose: both the steles and the pylons stand out for their high stability.

Aluminium and acrylic used most of all
So that your advertising pylons and advertising steles serve you for as long as possible, we prefer to use aluminium and acrylic. Whether the metal version, that is aluminium, or plastic, that is acrylic or Plexiglas®, is the better fit is dictated by the structural calculations and decided individually for you. Whichever material we use for your product, you can assume that it will last a long time.

Alongside our two favourite materials you can of course also order steles or pylons made of steel or stainless steel from us. Sheet metal is just as feasible as glass. Please note with glass that this material is only possible to a limited extent depending on the product size. What we advise you against is wood. It is rather unsuitable for outdoors and we don't even offer it to you

Common sizes and dimensions
You can order exactly the size you need from us. Common dimensions for an advertising pylon with an illuminated advertising panel are 1 x 3 m, that is, one metre wide and three metres high. A stele is often ordered from us in the size 0.5 x 2 m, that is, 50 cm wide and two metres high. Big or small: we make you exactly the advertising panels you need.

Even bigger? Then we'll build you an advertising tower
If your outdoor advertising is to be taller than six metres, you are in the right place with us too, because we are also a manufacturer of an advertising tower or advertising mast. While an advertising pylon only goes up to a height of 6 metres – that is as tall as the profiles get – an advertising tower can be up to 30 metres tall. An advertising tower – another name, by the way, is advertising mast – is something we generally use from a height of 10 metres, but you can also already get one from a height of 7 or 8 metres.

The difference from an advertising pylon, by the way, is in the height and also in the look. An advertising pylon is usually 2-sided, an advertising tower usually 3-sided with many individual advertising elements.

Building permit? Yes!
Both advertising pylons and advertising steles require a permit. For that an application for a building permit has to be submitted, and you need a building permit so that, with this kind of outdoor advertising, you can draw attention to yourself right from the street or on the premises.

It differs from municipality to municipality where you are allowed to put up the pylons and steles and how large the respective setback areas have to be. The relevant development plan of the town or municipality also sets out, among other things, how far the panels have to stand from properties.

If you don't have time, we're happy to help you with the application and take care of the correspondence with the relevant building office for you.

Buy from the manufacturer: approval, design, installation from a single source
As a manufacturer of advertising pylons and advertising steles, we're your direct partner. Alongside the product itself, which we manufacture on site here in Krefeld, you also get a lot of service around it – from the permit all the way to Installation . We're there for you.

This is how we make the advertising pylons and steles
To make these products to a precise fit and evenly, we use our Harmuth router as well as a panel saw and a double mitre saw. At the end the welding machine and the painting machine are used too – and your pylon or your stele is done. You will find more info on our machines.

Your questions... our answers!

No, you can of course also buy them from us unlit.

You can picture it as rather round, since it's a little curved. A convex pylon has exactly the same impact as a straight one, and the price is the same too. In our opinion it looks smarter, but that's a matter of taste.

Yes, you can also buy an oval freestanding pylon from us.

Yes, we can make that one too. There are no limits in the design if the structural calculations work.

Usually the company name, the company logo and possibly one further marking. That can be, for example, the word “Reception”, or also “Parking”, “Lorry access”, “Collection” or “Warehouse”…

We'd like that too, but the technology isn't there yet.

We are out and about across the whole of Germany and the neighbouring EU countries. We plan everything and support you with the design, the production and the installation.

There's unfortunately no configuration tool for that, but with an email enquiry you'll find out everything you need for the planning.

We need 7 to 15 working days. In urgent cases it can be quicker, though…

We need a vector file or a 1:1 .pdf file at 300 dpi. For this, our designers have an info sheet that we will make available to you.

Sure, of course that works. We need the dimensions and a photo would be helpful.

Yes, in principle that works. It depends on your municipality’s development plan. The stele may well need a permit. We are happy to take care of the preliminary enquiry.

There are steles with round tubes or with rectangular tubes. You can choose between aluminium and stainless steel.

No, Alu Dibond® is a composite of PVC with an aluminium coating on both sides in a thickness of 0.3 mm. For building the steles, though, this material is unsuitable.

Of course, they're excellently suited if you want to change the lettering more often.

Yes, there are outdoor LED screens and monitors that we can install.

Date and time modules can be integrated. A temperature display is possible too.

The content can be loaded onto the display directly from the PC or with a USB stick.

In principle, as the manufacturer, we can also produce vintage style, but we have to look at each case to see if it's feasible.

The stele is then installed on a rotating base.

Yes, all of them are IP67 protected.

Yes, that works without any trouble too.

That depends on the structural calculations. Depending on the case, we use anchor cages, hammer anchors or adhesive anchors.

Above a certain size we have our structural engineer calculate it and prepare the structural verification for the building authority.

A pylon is double-sided and an advertising column is single-sided.

Yes, that works too. Just as you like

They look great on industrial estates and at large entrances, for example to a hall or on the way to reception.

We need a photo of the intended location and the specification of the desired size.

Let’s talk about your project.

Illuminated signs, vehicle lettering or complete branding – we advise you in person, with no obligation.
