Art on the site fence with BlaueErdbeere

On 23 March 2023 the photo art exhibition at the Carsch-Haus „Open Space Gallery“ opened in Düsseldorf. And when a simple construction fence itself becomes the artwork, BlaueErdbeere is right there, fired up. A more than perfect project to let our new printer reach top form. Only at the end of last year was BlaueErdbeere’s machinery extended by the super-large-format printer Vutekh3.

“In producing UV digital prints we are now faster, higher in quality and more brilliant than many other sign makers in the region. That we were able to show this straight away with 200 photo prints delivered for the largest public photo-art exhibition #OpenSpaceGallery in #Düsseldorf makes us all the happier”, emphasises Niki Küch, managing director of BlaueErdbeere Werbetechnik. “We're delighted with the high print quality and the fantastic print result”, emphasises Wolfgang Sohn, photographer and curator of the new art project.

BlaueErdbeere was commissioned by Signa Real Estate, which is converting the old Carsch-Haus into the new Kadewe by the end of 2024. For the 150 metres of construction-fence cladding, BlaueErdbeere printed and installed a total of 200 UV direct prints in the size 2000 x 2000 mm on 3 mm aluminium composite panels. Alongside the prints, BlaueErdbeere also manufactured and installed the complete timber framework.

The “OpenSpaceGallery” in Düsseldorf opened on 23 March and is one of the largest public photo-art exhibitions. For this, the 150-metre construction fence at the new Carsch-Haus was turned into an urban photo-art exhibition space. The renowned curator Wolfgang Sohn is presenting his new art project for Düsseldorf’s cultural scene here. Photographs by 63 internationally and nationally renowned artists and by new talents are shown to the public.

Until mid-May 2023 the Open Space Gallery is using the construction fence on Kasernenstraße and Flingerstraße as a culture pop-up. The cultural project was made possible in cooperation with the supporter SIGNA Real Estate, which is currently renovating the Carsch-Haus extensively.

Signa Real Estate: On 30 November 2022, the state capital Düsseldorf granted official building permission for the conversion of the Carsch-Haus and the creation of the new light court on Heinrich-Heine-Platz. After the first building work to strip out the existing building had already been carried out in spring 2023, Signa Real Estate was able to begin the construction work. The work on the building and on the square is expected to last until the end of 2024. Once the building work is complete, a department store concept by The Kadewe Group will open in the Carsch-Haus.
