BlaueErdbeere creates large-format digital wayfinding for a clinic
A modern hospital wayfinding system always has to be up to date, allow flexible playout and take the opportunity to supply its visitors and patients with current information beyond the wayfinding.
The central wayfinding of a hospital is complex, and large information boards are often needed to cover all the specialist departments and services. No sooner has the central orientation board been printed and installed on the wall than it is already out of date again and would need to be updated. A new doctor takes over a department, the senior physician becomes chief physician. A hospital is extremely agile, and a wayfinding system absolutely has to take that fact into account.
Out of this problem the idea was born of replacing the old, static orientation boards in the entrance area of the Johanniter Hospital with large-format 86-inch displays. Thanks to the digital signage software, the hospital is now able, on its own, to make changes to the information boards. Alongside simply showing the departments, operations management and the chief physicians, other services are shown here too, such as the social service or pastoral care. In future, overarching information or job advertisements can also be communicated here.
Since 2023, hospital visitors and patients can park in the newly opened multi-storey car park directly in front of the Waldkrankenhaus. Here BlaueErdbeere supplied and installed an LED advertising installation of about 4 x 2 metres, which handles the central communication of the Johanniter Gruppe.
„With BlaueErdbeere we have found a reliable digital signage partner that supported us throughout the project on the hardware, software and the content, which made the implementation much simpler. Through digitisation we were able to make the wayfinding much more up to date and so shorten the routes patients have to take“, emphasises Frank Eichler, technical manager, occupational safety specialist, Johanniter Kliniken Bonn.
The Johanniter-Krankenhaus and the Waldkrankenhaus, with over 600 beds and more than 1,400 staff, form one of the most important healthcare providers in the Bonn region. Both hospitals belong to Johanniter GmbH and work closely together across disciplines in many areas.
