Gasthaus Stappen: more than just a digital menu

As a restaurateur, you have a lot of requirements to keep in mind; for example, the duty to display a menu means guests also have to be able to see a menu outside the premises. But because, especially in upscale gastronomy, the food offering changes from week to week with the season and what's available, keeping the menu up to date is a never-ending job for many restaurants. No sooner is the Christmas menu printed than asparagus season is at the door.

The client:

Gasthaus Stappen in Korschenbroich, run in a modern way, spoils its guests with a wide range of offerings, which is what led managing director Ms Stappen to look for digital ways to display the menu, and that is how she came across BlaueErdbeere.

The implementation:

BlaueErdbeere supplied the inn with a made-to-measure digital shop-window module. Fitted with a 46" semi-outdoor display, atmospheric photos accompanied by current information have been shining behind the generous glass front since the beginning of the year. The aluminium support structure mounted on the ceiling side was individually powder-coated in the RAL colour of the door system. On the back, the digital module is fitted with a replaceable fabric banner and shows the restaurant's logo.

After a training session and the graphic development of an initial content concept, the inn was able to take over the digital signage system and is now able to update its menu, new events and striking impressions with just a few clicks.

"We run Gasthaus Stappen with our committed team, in the fifth generation. We serve our guests fresh, fine, regional dishes, and we also look beyond "the edge of the plate" and put together a varied food offering, from Le Plateau day and Mallorca weeks through to culinary excursions. In recent years we have steadily expanded our range of services, and recently our guests have also been able to stay overnight in the neighbouring hotel," emphasises Ms Stappen, Managing director of the inn.

"The new digital display board helps us communicate our offering with advertising impact. In addition to the menu, with the digital signage system we have the option to give information about our catering offers, events and celebration options, as well as about the various rooms. For a long time we had wanted to show our guests photos of the enchanted garden and outdoor area already in front of the entrance. From the street, you really can't tell it's there at all“, reports Ms Stappen.
